Apple-Raisin Brandy Pie

  • 1/3 cup brandy
  • 1 Tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 1/3 cups golden raisins
  • 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 3 Tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 5 cups peeled, sliced cooking apples
  • 1 unbaked 9-inch pastry shell
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened

  1. Take a deep breath, all of your feedback is done.
  2. Combine brandy and lemon juice in a saucepan; cook mixture until thoroughly heated. Add raisins, and simmer 3 minutes. Set aside, stirring occasionally.
  3. Combine 1/2 cup brown sugar and 2 Tablespoons flour in a large bowl, mixing well. Add apples, tossing to coat. Stir in raisin mixture. Spoon mixture into pastry shell.
  4. Combine 1/2 cup flour, 1/2 cup brown sugar, and nutmeg; cut in butter with a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal; sprinkle over pie. Bake at 375 degrees for 45 minutes. Serve warm.
